Disastrous Accident Involving Speeding Police Officer

November 19, 2009

One of my favorite things to see on the highway is a police officer driving 15 miles per hour above the speed limit with seemingly nowhere important to go (no lights, just driving fast). Hopefully you caught the sarcasm in that. It’s actually one of my biggest (probably THE biggest) pet peeves. I’ve always been curious as to how much police officers are allowed to bend the rules in their favor. Do they get special privileges since they’re serving and protecting the citizens of the communities we live in? Or are they supposed to drive 45 mph down the local roads just like the rest of us ordinary citizens are supposed to, when they aren’t speeding off to save someone/investigate something?

Anyway, those thoughts aside, here’s an insane clip of a police officer driving 94 miles per hour through what seems to be a city (there’s no way this is legal, regardless of any officer privileges that may exist) and slamming into a car containing two teenagers, killing them both:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DREC97JZSdo

Clearly the police officer in the vehicle on the right was driving with excessive speed. The vehicle with the camera was actually a police cruiser too. The driver of that cruiser supposedly sped up when the cruiser on the right flew by them at a high speed (above 70mph). The officer driving the vehicle that crashed is facing charges; charges that are deserved.
